WATCH DOGS At NCA!

DADS OF GREAT STUDENTS

All of us have a vested interest in our children's education, both spiritually and academically. Likely, you will agree that Northshore Christian Academy is the best choice for our children. But what if YOU could help make NCA even better?

Watch DOGS Sign-Up Event 2017-2018
This event will take place as part of...

Celebrating Dads and Kids!
Thursday, September 21, 2017, 6:30-7:30pm

The evening starts in the auditorium with a general session, Watch DOGS info and opportunity to sign-up, then to the classrooms with students to be honored for the important role you have in their lives (students have prepared something for you). your child's teacher will be in the classroom. When you leave to go home, our PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship moms) will treat you to cookies and popsicles on the front lawn.

Since we launched our Watch DOGS (Dads Of Great Students) program in 2013, our Watch DOGS have became a very valuable asset to NCA and a blessing to those who chose to volunteer!

The idea is simple...get Dads in school with their kids!
Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, etc. volunteer one day (or two) during the school year, and provide NCA students with a positive male role model. Watch DOGS interact with NCA students during arrival, in classrooms, on the playground, in the halls, around campus and much more! Our goal is to have at least one or two Dads (or Grandfathers, Uncles, etc...) on campus each school day.

The Watch DOGS. program is sponsored by the National Center for Fathering (www.fathers.com). Currently 4,704 schools in 46 states participate in Watch DOGS.. Washington State currently has 354 active school programs, with over 80 of these in Snohomish County.

Program benefits
  • Students gain a positive male role model.  Some students do not have a father-figure present in their home and the number of male teachers has been steadily declining in recent years.  More positive male role models are needed in the school setting.
  • Schools gain an extra set of eyes and ears.  The presence of WATCH DOGS. can increase a sense of security at the building for students and staff, and it helps create an environment conducive to learning.
  • Fathers and father-figures can spend meaningful time with their students in the school setting and gain a greater awareness of the positive impact they can have on their student’s life, just by being a ‘dad’.
  • When WATCH DOGS invest a day at school, they can learn how better to partner with the school to meet educational goals of students.

NCA Watch D.O.G.S. History

In 2013 we had over 200 men show up to learn about NCA's WatchDOGS program. Dads, Granddads, Uncles and Father-figures listened to a presentation by fellow NCA Fathers and then signed up and away we went! Since 2013, we had approximately 200 men participate annually!
